Remembering Steve Krietsek

Dear Missing Sailors,

Im truly saddened to be writing this to inform you or anyone who doesnt yet know that Steve Krietsek, who was a close and good friend of mine since back in McIntosh Middle School DIED in like 98', due to an unfortunate (genuine)accident.

I specifically remember a morning while I was reading The Herald-Tribune I just happened to casually glance through the Obituaries and there it was. But as I recall I think they spelled his name wrong but his age was correct, or maybe it was the other way around. Whatever the case, it was enough to create some doubt in my mind. I guess maybe I didn't really want to believe it. Still, I tried calling his parents' home, but to no avail as there was no one home.

a couple of months later I ran into a mutual friend (Melanie B.) who confirmed that Steve had in fact died. She said that the funeral was very packed. My refusal to accept or believe it caused me to miss his funeral. I had regret that I didn't try harder to get in touch with his parent's or someone else right away to get to the truth.

I learned a lot of cool stuff from that Kid (that's how I'll alway's remember him)! He was very likeable, very funny and he was loyal.

About three or four years after High School we were Room-Mate's for almost a year and shared a decent place Herons Run Apartments. We had some fun times there!

I still sometimes think about him and the crazy stuff we did. He had a great sense of humor, an adventurous spirit and he had this hilarious and infectious laugh. Even NOW while writing this I'm realizing how much I still miss him. I kind of wish I could just call him up. You know?

I just recently found this website while trying to get some info on an SHS reunion etc.. Then I saw his name on this website's list of missing. So I thought I'd take this quick minute or so to write something about him and to let you know.

I'm sure anyone who knew Steve Krietsek would have to agree that no matter how much time anyone would take to write about him, it would be worth it.

Ok, well hopefully I'll be available to make the reunionin in July!

By the way, congratulations on a great website. L8tR!

Very sincerely & respectfully,
